Derek Gallanosa

Lead Brewer

An industry veteran of over 15 years, Derek Gallanosa started his brewing career in 2010 working for San Diego's Karl Strauss as a Brewer. In 2014, he became the Head Brewer of Abnormal Beer Co also in San Diego. As he was departing from Abnormal in 2017, Derek was rated a Top 100 Brewer in the World from RateBeer and had San Diego's number one rated brewery on both Untappd and Beer Advocate. For his next chapter, he moved to Sacramento to open Moksa Brewing Co as their starting Head Brewer, Marketing Manager, and Sales Director. During the five years spent at Moksa, Derek and his team received multiple medals at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and Brewers Cup of California, ultimately establishing themselves as a destination brewery in the Northern California region. In 2023, Derek moved back home to San Diego to be the Head Brewer of GOAL. Brewing in the North Park neighborhood, which created a strong fan base among its customers. Derek is known for brewing with precision and creativity, learning constantly from his industry peers and personal experiences in order to create the best products possible for consumers.
